What is the solidarity rental subsidy and why does it cause so much confusion?<\/h2>\n

The word "solidarity" has been used for different programs at different times. The most memorable was an emergency aid program during the pandemic, which has since ended; therefore, today, anyone searching for "solidarity rent subsidy" usually ends up with outdated information, without a date, that no longer applies.<\/p>\n

In 2026, the name refers to two separate, existing programs: one national, focused on the migrant population, and another for the city of Bogot\u00e1. Currently, there is no general "solidarity rent" program that covers every household in the country simply for paying rent. That's the first thing to understand before applying for anything.<\/p>\n

Who is eligible to receive the National Government's Solidarity Rent?<\/h2>\n

This is a program of the Ministry of Housing financed with resources from the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank. It is aimed at Venezuelan migrant households<\/strong> duly registered in Colombia, with monthly incomes of up to 2 minimum wages, who do not own a home and who have not previously received a housing subsidy.<\/p>\n

It's a program run by the District Secretariat of Housing for vulnerable households living in Bogot\u00e1. According to its official website, it provides monthly support of up to $1.085.561<\/strong> (equivalent to 0.62 minimum wages) for six months, based on Resolution 224 of 2025 and its amendment 456 of 2026.<\/p>\n

It is aimed at adult heads of household with incomes up to one minimum wage, who do not own property and have not previously received a district subsidy. Priority is given to women at risk of femicide or victims of domestic violence, victims of the armed conflict, senior citizens, informal recyclers, victims of recent emergencies, and families from ethnic groups. But that doesn't mean you have no options.<\/p>\n
