Subsidy payment schedule: confirmed dates for September 2026

Subsidy payment schedule: confirmed dates for September 2026

Doña Rosalba wrote to us again with the question that comes up every year: "Will I get paid in September?" It's the same question the mother waiting for the Citizen's Income payment for school supplies has, and the same question the young person counting down the days until the Youth Income payment. If you're in that situation, we'll tell you straight. August 30, 2026 Prosperidad Social published the subsidy payment schedule September saw changes to two programs—Colombia Mayor and Renta Joven—which had been running since the end of August. On September 14, a further change was added: the deadline to collect Colombia Mayor was extended to the 20th. And on September 17, a date was set for the third: cycle 4 of Renta Ciudadana and the VAT Compensation will be delivered from September 21 to October 6.

There's a detail that almost no one is mentioning, and that matters more to you than the headline: the organization published the dates on which open Each cycle, but of the five August installments, only two have a published closing date. Here's the complete schedule, with the source next to it, and what to do with the missing information.

What does the subsidy payment schedule say for September 2026?

The two facts that changed and that you should read first: Citizen Income now has a date, from September 21 to October 6, and the deadline to collect Colombia Mayor was extended until September 20. Colombia Mayor and Renta Joven were projected for the end of August, but the August 30 Prosperidad Social ran them: Colombia Mayor started the seventh cycle on September 3 and on the 14th it extended the charge until September 20; Renta Joven paid the fourth cycle to the bank account on September 3 and he paid by money order From September 4th to 11th. If you went to the payment point on August 31st and there was nothing there, it wasn't your mistake: the delivery was delayed.

Cycle 4 of the Citizen's Income and VAT Compensation scheme was scheduled for the August 21 and the August 20 the entity rescheduled for September, without a date. Almost a month later, the September 17, 2026, Prosperidad Social announced that it is delivering it From September 21st to October 6th a 804,478 households. Below we explain what held it up and how to collect payment. And the second transfer of the Emergency Helpline is now complete. hill: It was paid from August 14th to 24th.

That information had already changed before, and it's important that you know how: the schedule from July 30th announced that delivery for the August 11, But on August 12, Prosperidad Social announced that it was starting the 14, "after completing the required administrative procedures." And the August 24, which in the old timeline was listed as the start of another cycle, ended up being the Last day to collect that same delivery. It's the pattern this year: the dates are shifted, and the one that counts is always the last one published.

The agency published it with a warning that should be read literally: the dates "are subject to change due to financial availability." This isn't just filler. It already happened this year: the third cycle of the Citizen's Income program began on June 24th, and the distribution ended up extending until July 14th to reach the remaining households.

Program Cycle Start Published closing date
Greater Colombia Cycle 7 September 3 (it was scheduled for August 31st) September 20 (extended on September 14; previously it was the 13th)
Youth Income Cycle 4 September 3 by payment on account September 4 by turn (it was announced for the end of August) September 11, only for the money transfer option
Citizen's Income and VAT Compensation Cycle 4 September 21 (It was scheduled for August 21st) October 6 (announced on September 17)
Greater Colombia Cycle 6 (closed) July 29 August 19
Citizen's Income · Emergency Helpline Second transfer (closed) August 14 August 24

Made with the Social Prosperity note dated September 17, 2026 Regarding cycle 4 of Citizen's Income, those of August 30, 2026 regarding the fourth cycle of Youth Income and the seventh cycle of Colombia Mayor, the Note dated September 14, 2026 which extended the deadline for Colombia Mayor, the Note dated August 20, 2026 on the reprogramming of Citizen Income and the Note dated August 12, 2026 Regarding the Emergency Hotline: The schedule published by the agency on July 30, 2026, is no longer available in its press room, and its August dates have been replaced. The dates "are subject to change due to financial availability": confirm yours at socialprosperity.gov.co.

Until when can Colombia Mayor be collected?

Until September 20, 2026. On September 14, Prosperidad Social extended the deadline for the seventh cycle, which was originally set to close on the 13th. If your family member has not yet received their payment, they can visit an authorized SuperGiros or SuRed location in their municipality. As of September 13, 241,830 seniors had still not claimed their payment.

When will they pay the Citizen's Income in September 2026?

From September 21 to October 6, 2026. Prosperidad Social announced on September 17th that the fourth cycle of the Citizen's Income and VAT Refund program will reach 804,478 households, with payments made directly to their accounts and via money order through SuRed and SuperGIROS. Changes of account holder and payments by proxy are not permitted, and any unclaimed funds will not be carried over to the next cycle.

The month-long wait had a reason, and it's important to understand it. According to the Social Prosperity statement of August 20, 2026, The agency halted the disbursement while reviewing with the National Planning Department how to implement the Universal Income Registry, warning that doing so as it stood "could affect the continuity of transfers for approximately 49% of beneficiary households." In a statement dated September 17, it explained how it resolved the issue for this cycle: it used the Sisbén IV database with data cutoffs as of May 18 and July 27, 2026, within the transition period established by the National Planning Department, and added 72,382 new households (64,457 from Sisbén IV and 7,925 from indigenous communities). For this disbursement, it allocated 346.342 billion pesos.

What is the RUI and why did it postpone payment?

The Universal Income Registry (RUI) is the instrument the State uses to identify the actual income of each household in order to decide who receives aid. It is regulated by Decree 662 of 2026. The problem lies in the shift from one targeting system to another: by cross-referencing the information with the new criteria, almost half of the households currently receiving Citizen's Income would be excluded.

Prosperidad Social put it this way: «It’s not simply about postponing a payment. It’s about telling families the truth.» That’s why the technical review is done with the National Planning Department (DNP) before the payments are made, not after.

What should you do in the meantime, and what shouldn't you?. Yes: Keep your information updated in the registries where you're already registered (Sisbén, EPS, your bank account, or the operator where you receive your payments), because that's where the information the government cross-references comes from. No: Don't pay anyone to "reactivate" your subsidy, to "register you in the RUI," or to receive an advance payment. The RUI is not a process that can be done at a window and there is no way to buy a quota. If someone offers it to you, it's a scam.

Why doesn't the subsidy payment schedule say when you can collect it?

Because the payment window isn't defined on the day the cycle opens. Prosperidad Social activates the cycle, the operator starts making payments, and the closing date is confirmed later, depending on how the payments progress and how much money is available. September is the exception, and it's worth taking advantage of it: the agency announced the two dates for Colombia Mayor (3rd to 13th) and Renta Joven (deposit on the 3rd, transfer from the 4th to the 11th) because it published them along with the rescheduling, and even so, the closing date was moved: the closing date for Colombia Mayor was moved from September 14th to the 20th. Renta Ciudadana also arrived with two dates: it opens on September 21st and closes on October 6th.

For you, this means one practical thing: don't wait until the end of the month "because maybe there'll still be enough." Check with your ID as soon as your cycle opens and collect your payment within the first few days. The most common mistake families report isn't being removed from the program, but rather letting the application window expire while waiting for a deadline that was never confirmed.

How do the cycles of each program work?

The four programs that ask us the most questions have similar logics but different channels. If you understand the pattern of each one, you stop relying on rumors.

Citizen's Income. Payment cycles for impoverished households with children or dependents. The organization initiates the cycle, notifies the registered mobile phone number, and the payment is made via money order or direct deposit. If your number is outdated, you won't receive the notification: this is the most common error we see. See the Citizen's Income requirements before making a claim.

VAT refund. It's linked to the Citizen's Income program, in the same cycles, for households in extreme poverty. If you don't know if you qualify, check. who receives the VAT refund.

Greater Colombia. Support for seniors without pensions, with 230,000 pesos per cycle and payment through money transfer operators with urban and rural coverage. Here are the details. requirements of Colombia Mayor.

Youth Rental. For young people in technical, technological, or professional programs, conditional on them continuing their studies, the stipend starts at 400,000 pesos per cycle. In cycle 4, there are 2,722 participants: 1,557 receive payment via bank transfer and 1,171 via money order. A fact that almost no one mentioned: the The Youth Portal was open from September 3rd to 11th To update your information, report your high school graduation, correct a suspension, postpone your studies, change programs, or withdraw, these changes apply from cycle 5 onwards. The dates and process are outlined in the guide. Registrations for Renta Joven.

Emergency Helpline. This is a separate payment of 500,000 pesos per family for households certified as affected by the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management. It does not replace your regular payment cycle, nor does it advance it. The second payment has already been made. from August 14 to 24, 2026 And that window has already closed; it was charging for it. by turn, At authorized locations of the SuRed and SuperGIROS joint venture: the funds are not being credited. Prosperidad Social allocated more than 23.351 billion pesos to 46,703 households affected by the February floods in 19 municipalities of Antioquia, Bolívar, Córdoba, Chocó, La Guajira, and Sucre; this round included 17,446 households not on the initial list. The complete program map is available on our website. Guide to state aid and subsidies in Colombia.

How do I check the official date of my payment?

The process is short and free. Checking your document on the official portal is the only way to confirm your date, payment method, and the deadline for filing a claim.

  1. Go in alone to socialprosperity.gov.co, Write the address by hand. Do not use links sent via WhatsApp.
  2. Choose your program and open the household or beneficiary inquiry.
  3. Enter document type and number, date of birth, and security code.
  4. Check which cycle is open, what your payment method is, and what the last payment date is.
  5. Keep your cell phone number updated: that's where the notifications for each cycle arrive.

If you were planning to go in person, keep this in mind: from the August 11 eight regional offices of Social Prosperity —Caldas, Cauca, Chocó, Meta, Quindío, Risaralda, Urabá and Valle del Cauca— They suspended in-person services due to damage from the August 10 earthquake, and are only providing service through virtual channels until they assess the conditions of the headquarters (notice from the entityIf you live in those departments, check online and don't waste your trip.

If you live in a municipality affected by the earthquake, Legislative Decree 1426 of September 17 allows Prosperidad Social to suspend verifications that the earthquake prevents, so that your payment is not interrupted. It's not automatic: we explain it in [link to relevant article]. What happens to Citizen's Income, Colombia Mayor and Youth Income after the earthquake.

If the inquiry says there's no payment available, don't panic. It could be that your billing cycle hasn't opened yet or the payment hasn't been processed. Check back in a few days. If the rejection happens again, check... Why was my grant application rejected? and what can be done.

How to avoid falling for "your money transfer has arrived" scams in September?

We need to be clear about this, because families are feeling the pinch financially. Now that the September dates have been published, messages are popping up all over them: "Get your payment early," "Claim your money here before it runs out," "Pay to unlock your payment." It's all a lie. The government never charges for providing a subsidy, and no official asks you for a top-up, your app password, or any prior payment.

Golden rule: If a message asks for money, full bank details, or your password to "receive" a subsidy, it's a scam. Close it and only check with the official channel.

Be wary of shortened links, domains that look similar to the official one, and groups that claim to have "filtered lists." The real date isn't leaked: it's published. When you receive one of these messages, don't forward it; verify the information yourself using your ID.

Common mistakes with the payment schedule

  • Assuming you have the whole month to get paid: In September, the two published payment windows were short and had closing dates: the Renta Joven payment window closed on the 11th, and Colombia Mayor, which was supposed to close on the 13th, was only extended until the 20th. Collect your payment as soon as yours opens.
  • Sending someone else to collect the Citizen's Income: In cycle 4, the entity does not allow changes of account holder, powers of attorney, or authorizations to third parties. The account holder must appear in person, and any funds not collected before October 6th will not be carried over to the next cycle.
  • Confusing the Emergency Line with your normal cycle: This delivery is only for households certified as victims in the defined municipalities.
  • Believing a date seen on social media: The schedule changes due to financial availability, and the only valid date is the one shown on your document on the official portal.
